All season tires are not designed with an Alberta winter in mind. All season tires do not have the special rubber compounding designed to withstand freezing in cold temperatures, nor do they have the aggressive tread to dig into snow. All season tires also lack the special "siping", those small cuts and grooves you find all over the treads of winter tires which assist in griping on glare ice and removing water from the tread surface so your tire sticks to the road and does not slip on the road. And because of the huge differences in winter tires compared to all season tires, you must run four winter tires on front wheel and four wheel drive vehicles and it is strongly recommended to run four winter tires on all vehicles. Ask anyone who has spent a winter driving a set of our recommended winter tires and they will tell you that it is worth the purchase. The difference is truly amazing! The added traction is worth the cost, and the cost is much less than the cost of an accident!
